Journey from the Fall - Blu-ray up for pre-order!

The time has finally arrived... The seminal 2006 Vietnamese war film is finally up for pre-order on Blu-ray!

Ham Tran's award-winning refugee drama is an unforgettable piece of history... and remarkably, one of the only times the Vietnam war story has been told from the refugee point of view.

"Writer/Director Ham Tran achieves the impossible."

—Matt Zoller Seitz, The New York Times

"A superbly wrought saga of loss and survival... A remarkably ambitious debut... A major accomplishment. An example of sophisticated, impassioned filmmaking involving mainly people who lived through the harrowing experiences so unsparingly depicted."

     —Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times

A masterwork of independent film, produced entirely by the Vietnamese expat community in Orange Country, CA, Journey from the Fall was nearly lost forever when the film lab in Thailand where the 35mm were stored shut down. The original camera negative and interpositive were not protected from the harsh tropical humidity, which destroyed them.

For this release, we have digitally restored the best remaining HD video elements. It looks incredible. Additionally, the subtitles have been freshly revised, and a huge number of bonus features have been unearthed. These include:

  • English, English SDH and Spanish subtitles

  • Original Vietnamese/English DTS Master Audio lossless 5.1 and Stereo mix

  • Castilian Spanish dub in DTS-MA 5.1

  • Making-of featurette

  • B-roll footage

  • Cast & crew interviews

  • A feature-length, annotated visual commentary featuring the cast and crew

  • Original release promo materials

  • Copious liner notes

As a special bonus, we are also including composer Christopher Wong's incredible symphonic score as an included audio CD.

The disc is region-free and ships to US/Canada/UK/Ireland/Australia/NZ. Order direct from the MediaOCD store and get a free exclusive artwork slip cover while supplies last.

As always, MVD will distribute the title to other retailers and digital partners.

(While you're at the store, take a look at what else we've got up there! Lots of classic anime from the AnimEigo library, plus Too Much Sleep and Sword of Desperation!)

Thank you for supporting independent Blu-ray! More soon!
