Holy crap, Christmas is NEXT WEEK? We are not ready!! We're too busy feeding a pipeline of anime content and experiences!
2024 was an absolutely insane year, as we took the reigns of AnimEigo and launched Whole Grain Pictures, becoming our own publisher while continuing to serve the needs of Discotek Media and several others. It was a lot of work, but the support from the community and our industry colleagues has been incredible. We are so, so grateful.
We will be officially closed from December 24 to January 1. We will sporadically be answering emails during that time, but things may be moving slower than expected.
But before we go, a few updates:
The Bubblegum Crisis Priss T-shirt is expected to leave the factory on Monday, and so it'll probably start shipping out before the new year. We added a couple nice extras – the Bubblegum Crisis logo is now printed on one sleeve, and the new AnimEigo logo is on the other.
Bubblegum Crash will ship out early – maybe even before the T-shirt. We're just waiting for the store exclusive slipcovers to arrive from the printer. If you haven't pre-ordered yet, now's the time!
Some updates on Bubblegum Crisis: We've printed the new 50-page book, and it's shipped off to the disc replication plant so that it can be slipped into each case. Authoring is mostly done and the discs are at QC stage now.
We were alerted to some quality issues with the French, German and Italian subtitles, and with the help of some new friends, have reworked these subtitles to be much better than previous releases. Unfortunately, due to running out of time, we are omitting the Finnish and Japanese subtitles from this release.
Finally, we're down to our last handful of Time of Eve: The Movie Deluxe Edition discs. While this doesn't have the web versions and the new bonus features that our new Complete Collection discs have, these Kickstarter remainders are the only way to get the CD soundtrack and bonus book. Once they're gone, they're gone. (Don't worry, Time of Eve fans, we've got some more exclusives coming.)
And finally... the news you've been waiting for
We've licensed Nobody's Boy Remi from our friends at TMS! This classic 51 episode series is among director Osamu Dezaki's best. (You may have seen Tomorrow's Joe, Dear Brother, Lady Oscar: The Rose of Versailles, and Space Adventure Cobra, among many others.)
It's also DARK AS HELL. It's one of the saddest, most traumatizing depictions of childhood ever animated. But it's also hopeful, beautiful, surreal, and a testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. I can't wait for you all to see it. (It's streaming now on RetroCrush, if you can't wait.)
It goes without saying that REMI should be the inaugural title in our new Ruined Childhood product line. There's no English dub, but since it takes place in France, we managed to get permission to include the French dub. Coming to full HD Blu-ray next year.
Thanks so much for being with us. We'll be hosting a town hall with some more announcements in January. Until then, have a happy, safe and caloric holiday season.
Very nice
Awsome! Thank you so much for licensing that! I hope you can get more shows like Remi in the future!
