If the neon lights, sex appeal, and city pop sound of 1980s Shinjuku could be condensed into a single page, Tsukasa Hojo probably drew it. Be it City Hunter or Cat’s Eye, Hojo dazzled readers with fun and glamorous adventures within an often glamorless underworld. During City Hunter’s serialization, the author also took an assistant under his wing who ended up making quite the Slam Dunk himself. Additionally, Hojo is one of the co-founders of publishing company Coamix, alongside Fist of the North Star artist Tetsuo Hara and legendary Shonen Jump editor Nobuhiko Horie.
