Monkey Punch (Kazuhiko Kato)
Right after taking on a pen name he wasn’t all that crazy about in 1967, Kazuhiko Kato introduced the world to manga’s greatest thief—Lupin the Third. The red-jacketed rogue’s adventures became a smash-hit, and Kato’s pen name—Monkey Punch—stuck. While working away at further Lupin capers, the author developed other titles such as Cinderella Boy. But in 1996, Kato took on the unique challenge of directing an animated film, Lupin the Third: Dead or Alive. To this day, Monkey Punch’s favored thief continues to charm new audiences around the globe.
