Perhaps best known for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, this director has a penchant for exploring the growing number of intersections between society and technology—from Eden of the East to Napping Princess. Despite these recurring themes, Kamiyama is no stranger to fantasy either with titles such as Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit and Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim under his belt. Going back to his sci-fi roots, he’s currently directing the latest installment in the Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam RG: XARX-ZERO.
