After getting sucked into doing a little in-between work on Mobile Suit Gundam as a teenager, Hiroyuki Kitakubo got hooked on animating. With more than a few uncredited gigs on some of the 80s’ biggest hits under belt, it didn’t take long for him to start directing either. Following his debut with 1985’s Pop Chaser, Kitakubo directed Black Magic M-66 and Robot Carnival’s A Tale of Two Robots while also providing key animation for AKIRA. However, the director is probably best known for his string of 90s cult classics such as Roujin-Z, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and the highly educational Golden Boy. In recent years, Kitakubo has lent his directorial talents to episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen and Zoids Wild.
